Analyst Talk - Amanda Bruner’s Resignation as IACA President

Episode: 00252 Released on February 3, 2025 Description: Hi everyone! Mindy here (as opposed to ChatGPT); this week has been an unprecedented one with (former) IACA President, Amanda Bruner, resigning from the Board and rescinding her membership to the IACA. Jason and I thought it would be a disservice to our listeners if we conducted business as usual, so we recorded a special episode summarizing the current events. Please note that while we do our best to be objective and neutral in our recount of the situation, this has been an emotional turn of events for the both of us (and many others). 

This episode will revolve mainly around the publicly available letter of resignation by Amanda via her LinkedIn profile. We are taking her words at face value, but please don't see this episode as a pro-Amanda / anti-IACA (or vice versa) rhetoric because it's not. Jason and I are concerned members who are simply trying to make sense of the situation for ourselves and for our listeners. We provide a timeline of the events starting from last Wednesday to present, a summary of the resignation letter, and our thoughts and reactions to the news. This episode is not intended to sway your opinions in any direction, but exist to inform you of the current events and share our personal thoughts and opinions. 

The IACA Board will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 at 1pm CST to address the recent events. IACA members can register for this event by going through the link provided through the forums and/or email notification. In addition, IACA VP of Administration, Annie Mitchell, will fill the newly vacant role of President, and her former position of VP of Administration will be available. Those interested in the position should submit a letter of interest to the IACA Board by Sunday, February 9, 2025 at 11:59pm CST.
